How our nanny screening helps protect your family
Our screening begins the moment the nanny makes her
application. The application itself is six pages long
and is designed for us to get to know her and her employment
history. Since we are one of the country's larger nanny
agencies, more than one person often interviews the nanny.
After she has completed her interview(s), our staff consults
with each other; approximately 50% of the nannies who
make an application are rejected as unsuitable.
A critical part of our screening process is reference
checking. We have a highly trained specialist who checks
each reference. We ask questions on our application that
must match what the employer tells us. About 20% of nannies
give us phony references and they are immediately rejected.
The reference checking process gives us important information
on how the nanny related to the children who were previously
in her care. We provide this information to you.
At the time of placement we provide you with a DMV printout
and criminal background reports for each county the nanny
has lived in for the last seven years. The nanny needs
to be CPR certified and will be sent for training at
our expense if she is not. We register each nanny with
TrustLine when she is placed. Established by the California
Department of Children's Services, TrustLine uses fingerprints
to conduct a criminal background search, including a
search of the child abuse registry throughout California.
The FBI does a national criminal records search.
